DAVID MOORE…17TH WARD ALDERMAN… DERRICK CURTIS…18TH WARD ALDERMAN
Why David Moore you might ask me a resident of the 17th Ward? Because I live in the Marquette Park community and have been involved in this community for the major portion of my life. Whether it is my parish or the community at large…I saw this involvement as critical to helping me and my neighbors provide each other with a secure and safe neighborhood. Security…only look at the Marquette Park Security District…Special Service Area 14…the rapid response to crime in the area…but what lacked was ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT! We are only a few minutes away from Midway International Airport…the CTA Orange line to the Loop…the new Ford City Shopping Center…10 minutes to Evergreen Park and 15 to Oak Lawn…now this would be a great place to live…if there were not board-ups on every block…that Lithuanian Plaza Court from Western to California would have the mom and pop businesses and new town home construction. Then we get into education and see what the Christian Brothers are doing with Calayst/Maria elementary and high school…would it not be wonderful if they would also offer late afternoon classes in education and business management with Lewis University in Romeville…a Christian Brothers sponsored university…what about Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago…they are bring in 200 employees to the Saint Casimir Campus (formerly the Motherhouse of the Sisters of Saint Casimir)…would it not be beneficial for the community to interact and provide programs to the community and surrounding Catholic parishes? Sinai’s commitment to Holy Cross Hospital has been solid and we should work with Sinai Health System to further the growth of Holy Cross Hospital. The question now comes forward…where were the Aldermen…Thomas and Lane…nowhere to be found…this now brings me to Derrick Curtis who is an aldermanic candidate in the 18th Ward… closely adjoining us…his vision repletes David Moore…both want to doing something with our TIF’s (Tax Incretment Financing )…for economic development…and not not let RAHM and the present Aldermen take this money from our community for the downtown investment interest…let us put a stop to this NOW!
